In an age where every region in Nigeria celebrates its finest minds — investors, industrialists, philanthropists — Ala Igbo finds itself distracted by noise, not legacy.
Let’s speak plainly:
Two individuals have emerged as the most visible “faces” of Igbo success today — not because of the industries they’ve built, but because of their relentless display of wealth and pageantry.
Through wanton exhibitionism, they’ve hijacked the narrative of what it means to be an “Igbo achiever.”
🤔 Look Around the Country…
The North has Dangote and Abdulsamad BUA — building industries that employ thousands.
The Southwest has Otedola and Adenuga — investing quietly, empowering businesses.
But in Ala Igbo, what do we see most in the public space?
→ Loud influencers throwing parties, smashing tables, and flaunting ego-fueled wealth.
This is not to tell anyone how to spend their money.
But when your platform is loud and your influence is massive, the standard must be higher.
🌱 What Ala Igbo Needs Now
🎓 Our universities are underfunded, lacking world-class infrastructure.
🏛 We have no fully funded cultural or research centers.
💡 Brilliant youths with tech ideas and creative projects are begging for hedge funds and support.
Where are these “icons” when it’s time to fund progress?
Where are the foundations, the innovation hubs, the grants without collateral?
Instead, we get Instagram parades and nightclub trophies.
🌟 Who Should Our Youth Really Look Up To?
Let’s shift the spotlight.
👉 Late Paschal Dozie – Founder of Diamond Bank, mentor to entrepreneurs.
👉 Gilbert Ajulu Uzodike – Industrialist and manufacturer who built value.
👉 Allen Ifechukwu Onyema – Chairman of Air Peace, nationalist, philanthropist, peace advocate.
Allen Onyema, through his company and initiatives, has not only created jobs but flown stranded Nigerians home for free. He has empowered the youth, promoted peace, and demonstrated that wealth can serve a higher calling.
These are the men whose lives teach us that greatness is not in noise, but in nation-building.
🗣 Time to Choose Better Role Models
Let us stop elevating those who sell chaos as charisma.
Let us celebrate those whose success lifts others — not just their own tables.
Ubosi ana akpụ isi ka a kpụọ afụ ọnụ — “Let us speak while our minds are clear.”
💬 What Do You Think?
